Just checking if anyone ran across any deals on lobster lately. The wife is looking for some tails that don't look like shrimp. I'll drive around a bit today to see if I can find anything and will post if I find something as well.

The wife is cooking for 10 so didn't want to add lobsters to the mix. She's looking for frozen tails. That is a good price though. Worst case I can cook them ahead of time earliest in the day and reheat.

Superstore is usually pretty good for 5 to 6 oz tails ranging from $6.99 to $10.99 depending on the day. Not that you need to know, but I thaw them in cold water, split them with kitchen shears up the back, pull the meat out and wash out the vein while leaving the last bit attached at the tail end and lay on the closed shell restaurant style. A sprinkle of paprika and 8 minutes at about 6 inches from the broiler. A little squeeze of lemon and melted butter for dipping, with or without garlic and I'm liking it. :)

Thanks to all. I did the Safeway 4 tails for 25. It seems best deals on live lobster at about 12 a pound which is a good deal in the last while. Sobeys also had them and will steam them for you at the same price.

You get 50 bonus air miles per 2 pack so I got 150 air miles and a 100 mile bonus.

Thanks for the cooking tips as we will probably do the same with the tails split. My boys ate a lot of seafood as kids so they are kind of turned off most seafood now so it saves money at New year's. They do eat their body weight in steak so it all evens out.

If the OP wants to come to my place, Camrose area, I have a Lobster cooker here, it cooks 20 - 30 in 1 shot, it needs a propane tank to hook up to the cooker

Costco has 'Fresh seafood days' a couple of days every couple of months. Their prices for lobster tails are pretty good. Their prices for bags of lobster claws are even better. Cooked, on ice - supposedly never frozen.
