Real perpetual motion isn't possible The Atmos clock can run on nothing for decades. this one has been running on my mantel for 6 years and at my parents place for 25 years before. They use variations in temperature to power them. Inside spring like tubes is a mixture of gases that expand and contract with each temperature change. The mechanism winds naturally, without any human intervention.
