I recently got a High County Pro-tech compound bow (https://toxophilites.com/compound-bows/) from Craigslist for $80. I put a few arrows in it through the youtube tutorials ... but, of course, the bow is not in my wheelbarrow (yet).
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this bow? And all the other pro-advice that the experts can give me?

thanks!

Absolute best thing you could do is to go to a reputable archery shop and get them to look over the bow to check if it is set up properly and is the right draw length and poundage for you. They will also ensure your arrows match your set up so everything is safe!

While you are there, it is quite likely you might pick up some good pointers from the staff there and/or some other archers that may be there.

Welcome to the addiction we call archery! Have fun and be safe!

I’ve had excellent service at JimBows; shops located in Calgary & Edmonton.

Welcome to a new way of life lol. Archery is actually life changing for a lot of us. It’s a healthy sport to obsess over, and has many physical and mental health strengthening attributes that you wouldn’t even think of. I highly recommend delving in and hopefully it takes hold for you.

That said, Norm nailed it. There’s nothing wrong with purchasing used equipment, but have it looked at FIRST by someone who has experience with archery equipment. They guys at Jimbows, if you’re close to them, will certainly not let you down. Have the potential seller meet you at a range/pro shop and have them there while you have the bow assessed. There’s several potential safety concerns that come with purchasing used archery equipment. Also, with older equipment, the bows may not be as forgiving and adjustable as the newer ones, meaning you may end up with a bow that does not fit you and will not be able to be fit to you. This would ruin your first archery moments and could even hurt you.

Hope this helps!
