Canadians in general don't like bullies. Say "bugger them, short term pain, long term gain", impose an import tariff sufficient to hurt them. Yes, this would be minor enough issue to China, and major to Canada, but time to wean ourselves off their feces. The TPP was specifically to get around China by the rest of the trading/friends partners.

I think Canada's best strategy against China is to use their own protectionist rules against them. If they don't let our stuff in unfettered then we don't let their stuff in unfettered. That way we aren't just saying NO but instead using a passive aggressive tactic to call out their BS policies at the same time keeping out spyware. It still shocks me how much we've opened up our country and businesses and resources to China without demanding reciprocal access to their markets etc. Worst case I'd rather see Canada take a financial hit then to bend over for those communists.
