caught a small pike on Mcgregor the other day with two gills hanging out of his his gill plate . it was not bleeding and was very active, small enough that my hook barley made it past its lips so I know I didn't damage it . makes me question survival rate of damaged pike when released .

Fish are strange some die from the slightest thing and others survive major injuries. Seen this with all species but some are no down tougher than others

Pike are one of the hardiest fish, seen a few in a bucket, 1 hr drive home etc, dump fish in sink to clean, add water and well the second go around started...tuff as nails.

perch is the hardiest fish lol u can freeze and unthaw them and they still be swimming
