I was fishing Emerson a few nights ago and something large grabbed a rainbow while I was fighting it. It left a bite mark 1 1/2 inches wide. My fishing partner thinks it's a large Brown. I think it looks more like a pike. We never saw what it was. It came screaming off the bottom in 20FOW and hit the rainbow at 4 FOW , spooled my line about 30 feet then let go. What are your thoughts?:thinking-006:

Burbot. He is about 8 lbs. I seen him swimming down the hole one day. He lurked around then disappeared in to darkness. Probably wouldn’t be hard to catch him if you had the right setup and fished at night.

Not a story but go ahead and think so.

It wouldn't be the first pike to come out of that lake since the flood and Browns are stocked.

I've been looking for your Burbot Raw but haven't seen any signs of one. I don't think a ling would leave that kind of a mark but maybe. A 8lb ling would inhale these little trout. I've been out a few nights and nothing but suckers. I'll give a go a few more times this week. Might be time to dig out the camera again.

I’ve only had Pike do that to me. From 20 ft to 4 ft doesn’t sound like a Burb bite, and I’ve never heard of a trout biting a hooked fish. I can’t see your pic, it’s showing broken link for me.
It’s amazing how Pike get into some waters, when it’s seemingly impossible for a fish to swim into. I wouldn’t be that surprised if they find Pike on another planet someday, lol.
Maybe they should be called Water-Coyotes rather than Water-Wolves, since you can find them everywhere.

I’ve seen pike in the canal beside the lake. No doubt they could of gotten in there during the flood.

Only ever had pike do that, although I have seen big browns chase perch.

Heard of both pike and burbot in there but never pulled anything other then rainbows and browns out. That would be interesting to see for sure!
