Has anybody tried stuffing a 36" Rod in one of these, my gut says don't do it but I like this design a lot better than the jumbo case

For anyone considering a 36" ice rod, don't do it man any sort of advantage gained while fighting big fish is negated by how much of a pain in the azz it is to transport and fish with inside the tent

I've done it . Just put the rod in the bag at an angle and you will be fine .

At the beginning of the season I bought a Shakespeare Ugly Stick Dock Runner 36" rod and really like it. It does fit in my Cabela's rod bag, but barely. Like posted earlier place it at an angle. Dogfish

Yeah I do it and just zipper the rod tip end and flex the rod tip.

Like mine....actually keep the rods organized and tidy....not thrown in a 5 gallon pail as usual.
Longer rods are snug but doable

I have been using that one for a couple of years now. Most of m rods are sligjtly longer than that and I just angle them and put a slight bend at the tip and have not had any issues. I was a bit nervous doing that at first as I dont by cheap rods but it has worked well. I like the pockets on the outside where I put other longer things that dont fit in the tackle bag or are too bulky for the trays.

Bag is only 35 " Might be tough to not get damage.

I had an HT that was tight for my 36" rod. Upgraded to the Cabela's bag that was longer 44" for that reason. Its a bit narrow I find but keeps the rod tips from jamming up.

Rod bag tip: Use wrapping paper tubes over the rod and line to keep the hooks and lines from tangling :)
