I don’t have a spine tester but buddy does and he tested some arrows and says there is a huge discrepancy in spine within the same maker. I suspect it’s his usual cheap bargain bin carbons but I’m still curious.

Has anyone else run into this. Carbon straightness is usually listed on the package but not the consistency of spine.

Things that make me ponder

Hey Chef,

I have seen a group of two dozen arrows from the same manufacturer run through a tester as well.

Only about 12 had consistent spine. Unfortunately they were my arrows, but this was before I really knew what I was looking at!

These arrows had quite some erratic flight with fixed blades!

I have had great success shooting spine indexed arrows from Black Eagle.

Spine index labels are not always correct. Have confirmed this with a RAM spine tester. Turning your nock can make a huge difference in dynamic spine and fixed blade tuning.

I get my arrows from Jerry at South Shore Archery he uses a RAM and has his "own" proprietary process for spine testing.....he builds your arrows to your spec. Fletched or bare shaft cut both ends, squared and indexed.

He spine tests and marks all arrows. The come perfectly packaged.

Most accurate arrows I have ever shot....so what ever he does it works!

He isn't cheap but I have never seen a better arrow builder. The arrows come flawless.
