Hey guys, I'm starting to get back in the game now and was wondering how hasse lake is doing. A few years back I had a great time there and could not keep the fish off my line even if I tried.

How many years is a few? I haven't heard of that lake being fished in many many years. She is dead as a certain poster always said :)

Last time I fished hasse would have been back in 07. Unfortunately, I gave up on it because the crowds were just too much for me and the old man. We literally could not keep the perch off our lines.I could have stuck my hand in the ice hole and scooped em up by the dozens. The lake was meme worthy.( Hopefully the context of that statement is understood.
It would be such a sad site to see hasse in a forlorn and dismal state.

I still do have a profound love for that lake. Hopefully there is some chance of revival.

As mentioned, ole Safety D said pretty much every lake was dead when asked about it.

Hasse was a fun lake to rip out to for trout. Many asked if it can be brought back, many say it is too far gone now.

Only way I can see that lake being saved now is if they remove the island so the geese will stay away and perhaps introducing species of fish that can handle the dirty water like bass. Or drain it completely and start from sctratch.

It’s a disgusting place to visit in the summer. About 2 feet of gull crap on the bottom of that pond. Fake fishing anyway even before it went to crap.

I'm not completely anti social when it comes to fishing. But rubbing elbows with a Russian perch enthusiast was not an uncommon occurrence 10-15 years ago. This is not favorable to me in terms of my participation in the matter of fishing.

If you ever fished Barnes or surveyer or tie lake down by fernie just across the border and caught beautiful scrappy plentiful bass you gotta wonder why they couldn't survive on alberta. Talk to your foot, you will get a better response to angler concerns and questions than any alberta fishery manager. Anybody know if they are stocking or rearing any trout at all with the whirling disease thing or does anyone know how they are handling that? Boy I sure wish they would share their plans and objectives with the guts and gals who pay their wages. Just my opinion.

Why stock anything when the FN's will just come in and gillnet it out. Seems like a waste of time. Wish I had a camera with me when I saw them gillnetting fish. Is there still commercial fishing going on in other Alberta lakes? Sport fishing is doomed if these continue unabated.

Lac la Nonne (1926), Island Lake (1980's), possibly others as well.

Some of our lakes have changed over the past century however and certain lakes may be able to support bass now... I have heard from certain individuals there may be talks of attempting stocking bass again, and I have a friend that is working on the facts with the UofA.

I would be interested...

Totally makes sense with the Asian carp starting to show in a few lakes. Maybe that's what we need. They sit in inches of water and maybe the walleyes would leave them alone. Guard their nests till the young hatch. I never understood the hype till I worked in b.c last summer and fished them. They are fun and prolific there, almost like a pan fish. Sure beats the heck out of what we got going on in central alberta these days. Worth a try isn't it? The lakes that went zero pike last year are toast and if you think they will ever open them up without dinging you for a tag even tho there's no stocking program to rebuild or try to garner some funds from us to enhance or attempt to restore a fishery that was so mismanaged in the first place.
