Hi all from Palm Springs, nice to see it’s finally warming up back home, also down here, 84F or 29C, need to stock up on more cold ones not fishin gear.

That said, I did the Buy it Now on E-bay and just got a B-new 13 Fishin Ghost White B-Betty inline ice fishin reel for $35.00 USD all in, delivered to my door. Packing slip was from Dicks Sporting Goods so I believe it’s authentic, noticed the Tackle Shack in Sylvan sell them for $79.99 Cdn, so I saved a few bucks.

I’m sure A/O members have them, didn’t see many threads on the topic so looking for some feedback, do you use backing line …. pro’s …. cons …. would you buy another one ?

Edit: They come in left or right hand wind, this one's left.

Tks

I have 3 of the Ghost Freefall and 1 Blackbetty Freefall. The Blackbetty is a smoother and better than the Ghost but for the price the Ghost performs very well. I used electrical tape to secure my braided line to the reel. Works fine for me. Love the trigger feature as it makes lowering the line a breeze and easy to stop descent. Being an in-line reel line twist is a non-issue most of the time.

I have 2 other brands of inline reels. A Rapala Concept believe they are called and 3 Frabill 271 I believe and much prefer the Blackbetty’s.

I would buy more in a heartbeat.

You got a very good deal on the reel.

Just found an old thread from 2015 ... looks like EZM didn't like it much.

Wondering what others have to say ?

I think EZM was referring to a different version of the Blackbetty.

JohninAB .. tks for sharing, was hoping the trigger feature worked and with no line twist a bonus. Hoping the drag system works just as good, if I ever was lucky enough to catch a monster Mr. Snap White wouldn't want equipment failure being a problem.

I'll say this... I wouldn't want any other reel when I hook a big ole Muskrat! [emoji6]

Seriously though I've had mine for 2 seasons now and it's my go to for whites, perch and walleye. Great drag, the trigger is great and drops with very little weight and no line twist when using braid (noticed a bit when I had straight flouro on).

Cheers,

Scott.

I didn't know you have one of these when did you get it ?

Was typing at same time as your edit.

So the drag system works just fine.

I've got it paired with a 16" HT ultralight rod from TFH. Perfect set up and the drag works just as well as any of my spinning reels (except the Shimano Stradic of course).

Cheers,

Scott.

Then maybe I'll consider buying another one if they get relisted on E-Bay, they sold out immediately.

I keep one of those rubber bobber stops on the braid and I can adjust it to the waterline once I find active fish. That way I can hit the trigger after landing a fish and be right back "in the zone" Everytime.

Cheers,

Scott.

Based on the positive feedback, just did the BIN and bought another one for $35.00 USD, couldn't resist.

I don't know, not super impressed with it to tell you the truth. I don't know if it's the line I have on it or that I fish in too cold of weather. But when the guides ice up and you get a little bit of ice on the line then it catches and with the free spool you get a birds nest. I end up having to take the reel apart a few times a day using it to untangle the line. Now guys who say they use it in a warmer shack don't seem to have this problem. Plus when I was just in Idaho using it I didn't have as much trouble either and it worked well. So seems to be temperamental with the temperature if you ask me. Not a great reel for those -20 days in my opinion.
