Adhesive for Feather Fletchings

Hey Everyone;

I recently purchased a set of arrows with vanes, having originally had a rest point on my recurve (has since been removed). I'm looking to switch over the feathered fletchings, and don't want to waste the arrows with the vanes - therefore vanes come off, feathers go on.

Question is; what sort of adhesive does everyone recommend? I don't want to spend excessive amounts, and I noticed some people recommend everything from common super glue to gorilla glue, to specialised fletching glues. Your inputs?

Goat tuff or fletching tape if it’s new. I wouldn’t use fletch-tite again. I did in the 90’s but never again.

Where are you buying your feathers? There is zero comparison between processed feathers and natural, unprocessed feathers from wild turkeys. If you want the best fletching you could glue to your arrows I know a guy. They’ll last you many, many years with zero maintenance and laugh at rain.

Traditional archers "in the know" use E6000 industrial strength adhesive. About 8 bucks at Home Depot for a 59 ml tube. Bonds to carbon, aluminum or wood shafts, but only works with feathers.

Gold Tip Tip Grip, for most fletchings (AAE being the exception).

Fletch-tite platinum....

But methodology is very important too... get instructions from fletching manufacturer or youtube videos on it....

the best adhesive done wrong is worse than a lower grade adhesive done right....

I use gorilla gel instant glue and have never had a problem with feathers coming off and can be purchase at Walmart or your favorite hardware store on your way home. I don't have a bow shop close buy so thing I can purchase locally that are multi function are great.

I use Extra Thick cyanocrylate. A modelling super glue. Its not instant bonding but its got a little working time. Not sure what its like to remove to re-fletch as i dont glue directly to the shaft. I put shrink sleeve over the shaft the length of the fletchs and glue to that. Makes re-fletching easy. Just cut shrink sleeve with a razor and off with the fletches. No scraping.
