good day, few questions on rod set up for jigging raps only.

I am hearing conflicted information regarding what rod to use. I mainly use size 7 and 9. vertical jigging at around 15-25ft. I was told that a medium to medium heavy rod is what i am looking for.

The question I have is that I picked up a medium heavy rod but it seems very light for the 7 and 9 rapsand light for a med - heavy rod.

The rod i got is the Quantum accurist 6'6 med heavy. line weight 6-14 lure weight 1/8 to 3/8.

The thing that concerns me is the lure weight, way less than what i will be using it for, but does it really matter for vertical jigging?

thanks in advance and look forward to hearing some suggestions!

6'6" at a minimum, 7' preferably. You want a softer rod due to the small hooks that the raps come with, a stiff rod will make it difficult to keep fish pinned. I use a 7'6" Loomis with a moderate action.

You want a slower action rod to keep pressure on the jigging raps.

This is the rod I got. I think it might be labelled wrong? pretty soft tip but has a really good back bone. I would have thought it would have been stiffer being a med-heavy.

thanks
