Does anyone know of any places along the nsr where a guy could drive to and fish? Maybe even camp?

alberta or sask side?

I ended up fishing both. Did much better in the Frenchman’s butte area.

But prefer Alberta as it’s a long enough drive as it is.... lol.

Always have good luck at lea park with walleye and gold eye.
Hiensberg area is ok too.

If anyone wants to share a descent shore spot for sturgeon though between lea park and elk point feel free to PM me.
Been trying to catch one for the kids the last couple years in that area with no luck.....just hundreds of walleye and sauger with the odd pike and goldeye mixed in.

Try upstream. Burtonsville rec area is nice. 2 hours from Camrose. Fishing this time of year can be good. Can camp there. There are a few rec areas between Devon and Drayton that can be accessed. Most on the south side of the river. Burtonsville is on the north side.

That’s not really practical to fish that area after work each night from LOYDMINISTER...... lol.
But when I’m home in Camrose I might give er a go!

Is it a hamlet?

Picked up 21 sturgeon fishing 12 hours over 3 days , all daylight. Biggest just shy of 60" , a 55" and a 48" were the biggest. All from the other spot mentioned.

Is it a hamlet?

In the days of the fur trade it was called Goose Encampment and was a place for an annual goose hunt. Settled by a Metis family. Named in 1912 by a local homesteader/postmaster. Wasn't really a townsite but more a stopping house along the "old mill trail" in the early days. Lots of logging was going on upstream and around the area so I'm sure there must have been a supply 'store' there too.
A nice area alongside the river. I could type a paragraph...instead...Read this....
