A couple years ago a guy in Montana designed a new "High Tech" foot snare. Very nice neat unit, looks extremely user friendly. Perhaps a little easier to carry in a truck than the current culvert traps? In fact you could carry a whole bag of them by hand, enough to do the job surely.

Really looks to be a good, user-friendly unit. The in loop chain of the actual snare keeps max blood flow to the foot. Also can use breakaway devices when targeting wolf etc, to eliminate bear and big game catches.
The inventor is a noteworthy dude, likely holds the world record for number of coyotes shot from a helicopter in a day!!!
Now the rest of the story is this, regardless of the poison spewing from SE Montana... The reason for the massive kill in one day was not due to a grotesque over abundance of coyotes, but the fact that they had a fuel truck drive up to the Canadian border, and were able to re-fuel the chopper and get back up in the air and put a double day in, otherwise they would have had to cut their day short and return to base once their chopper ran low on fuel, a sizeable distance.
