It is from salmonid family.
"Hucho Taimen" occupies territories from pacific coast all the way to the Ural mountain, which is far bigger than size of Canada. However Russian oil industry has ruined most of it's habitat and taimen's future is in serious danger. Only some waters in Mongolia(rivers Chulut, Ider, Delger-Moron create a huge watershed which goes into biggest Mongolian river Selenga which then flows into lake Baikal). This watershed system is very well known for it's giant Taimen and Lenok trout, most of the international outfitters are located here.

For those who really want to experience wild Mongolia, northern most part(Huvsgul) is covered in thick evergreen forest. This territory is the jewel and is 7000km away from Mongolian capital Ulan Bator. Fishing goes on in the mountain rivers known as Shishkid and Tengis. These rivers have huge numbers of Arctic Char, Lenok trout and it's majesty Hucho Taimen.

I've had privilege to talk to some people who ventured there 2005/2006/2007 out of Serbia and Bosnia. From the pictures they showed and video material they gave me , I was instantly hooked, and promised to myself that one day I'll fish for Hucho Taimen.

Biggest one caught(by this expedition) was on a imitation of a ground squirrel with body made of balsa, biggest streamer I have ever laid my eyes on, it dwarfs most muskie lures. Fish was between 140-150cm long and around 85-90lbs. It took over an hour of intense fight to bring the fish to the shore.

Is there anyone on this forum that had a chance to visit this part of the world?
