I have always caught then in sept. between hinton and fox creek on the berland river, before sept, a few rainbows and whitefish ,
also smokey river is a hot spot back in that area is good .
But read the regs as there is a bait ban and catch and release at certain times .

I have never tried them in ponds/lakes, I always fish them in streams. Usually later on in September, just wondered if I am wasting my time if I try for them this month.

All you really need to know is Little Smoky River. Hands down the best grayling river in Alberta. I usually have 50 + fish days out on the Little Smoky.

just went up to the freeman river by highway 32. hooked 12 and watch a bunch of little ones push my hook around. They were hitting adams flies pretty good and a dragonfly nymph.
