Hey guys, I'm just curious, have any of you seen any exotic animals while fishing?

I've seen several sea turtles while fishing the flats in Cuba. Lots of turtles around lakes in B.C. in the Okanagan region as well.

Too cold, IMHO, for turtles in northern Alberta

Fishin in May this year near Kenora.... all along the shore probably 4 or 5 turtles per day!

*** funniest moment, trolling slowly along shore towards a turtle sitting atop a large rock.... we get within 5 meters and the turtle begins to "scurry" and falls head over shell into the water.

Salmon arm has them, in the canals and the warmer, dirtier water of the Shushwap. I have not seen them here in Alberta though. But we did find some big torts down in North Dakota!!

Saw the odd one down in Lethbridge a few years back. One city pond had lots and the odd one could be seen along the Oldman. Painted turtles i believe. Released pets that established themselves maybe?

Painted turtles are native to southern alberta. Their range extends from edmonton south to the montana border.

Hi, I saw a turtle at Sibbald Meadows Pond on Saturday. Not to big but very colorful. Also saw a bullfrog that had to be 16" long easy. Jumped right up beside my chair and watched me for 10 minutes. I think he cursed me, haha.

saw a weird azz sea monster at Elbow lake in Kananaskis country when I was about 14. It was about 4 feet long and had a realy large head but the rest of its body was realy skinny and snake like. It appeared to be swimming sort of clumbsily just under the surface, about 6 feet away from us and to this day I wish one of us had had thought to nail it with a rock but we were too freaked out to think of it at the time. There were 3 of us, me, my buddy and my buddy's mom who saw it so I know my eyes werent playing tricks on me. It sounds crazy, especily in a cold mountain lake but I swear we all saw it.

Saw an occassional turtle in ponds and lakes near Edmonton. Mostly captives from the Kootenays that have been released once people realised that they are not a great pet.

Saw one last week on the Oldman near the Lethbridge weir and one in Henderson Lake. Both former BC residents.

A buddy of mine caught a small gator one year while fishing somewhere down south.

I've seen the odd turtle at Last Mountain in SK over the years, but pretty rare.

I know they're present throughout a lot of southern SK though.

I was at Chinook Lake in the Crowsnest Pass a couple weeks ago. I saw a little turtle near the shore right at dusk. I was surprised to see him.
