Farmed Atlantic salmon escape in BC

Sad to read this morning that several thousand atlantic salmon have escaped from a fish farm on the west coast.

Jeopardizes our fisheries just for the sake of a buck. I hope this kills the concept of farming fish in pens in our oceans. They should be farming fish in land locked water bodies that can be contained.

They won't move to land locked lakes or streams due to the pollution the fish farm generates. They just move the ocean farm to a new bay and avoid the diseases from the pollution in the last bay. Some have the farm right at a stream mouth that wild salmon fry are coming out of. Most of the fry get killed by the over abundance of sea lice from the fish pens(fact).
The fish farm owners lobby the BC government with lots of cash. They lobbied so there is no notice on the package that it is a farmed fish.
