DIY archery work bench

Who else works on their own stuff. I just got my new press and decided to make a work bench with a draw board built in. This is my first attempt at it and will probably tweak things as I go. Let’s see your archery work stations!

That’s where I got mine. That said. The one I bought was the smallest they had in stock. They may have something smaller online but I didn’t check.

Thanks Engels, I decided to put the drawers on my bench on the end rather
than on either long side so I could easily get at them when I have a bow
in the press or the draw board.

Unless you have plans to add say an arrow cut off saw etc. on the opposite
side of your draw board, you could put long drawers or shelve combos on
that side.

I like that you have a wider top surface than I do, I'm setup in my basement
and space is tight plus I used left over deck boards and 4x4s from rebuilding
my deck so lumber was limited.

I'm going to build a seperate arrow building station when I get time later and
I need to build something to setup the chronograph on as well.

Lot's to do this winter. :-)

You can purchase the winch by itself instead of the complete draw board
but yes it is pricey. Well built, alum. box frame, winch has a clutch that
holds by itself at full draw and backs down with control.

I covered the alum. box frame on mine with stick on felt to protect from
any possible close encounters with the string but there is plenty of clearance
when the board is used normally.

Very nice work bench. I have a home made draw board and a jobmate work bench I use to hold the bow while I press it with the bowmaster portable press. Will upgrade one day.

So, I'm just spitballing here, but both of you have Last Chance Archery presses, so why would you mess around with draw boards onto the side of a cabinet or whatever when you could just buy the draw board for the LCA press? I thought about going that route. It’s definitely the way to go, however I am cheap and I built my draw board for under 40 bucks and serves the same function at the end of the day! If I could find one for cheap I would be all over it!

The problem with the draw board on the press is it is hard to measure the actual draw length without using a tape measure and adding 1.75 inches. I use collapsible saw horses for my press, draw board,and arrow saw. These horses come on sale at CT for like $20. That way they can be brought anywhere and easily stored away on hooks on the wall.

Price was the reason I went with ArcheryDezign $165.00 for the draw board rather than LCA $220.00 and I have a neatness fetish thought the
scale marked out looked really cool. :lol:

adjustable stop (I'll set to 1/8" deep cut). To bring the grinder into the
arrow instead of swinging the arrow into the cut off wheel.
Don't want to derail this thread so I'll start a new post on the cut off saw
build.

Works good. Just make sure once the arrow is set in the door latch base in a position which is perfectly square with the 2 L brackets. And then make sure this alignment places the arrow shaft in such a position that the cut off wheel is only cutting through 1 wall of the arrow at a time. This will keep your cut as square as possible. I then coat the cut end with a gold sharpie and use an arrow squaring device until all the sharpie is gone.

Not really a problem. Measure it out 1 time and mark it on the frame of the press or install a tape on the frame. Done. Once.

Wouldn't the tape measure or marks end up 6-7 inches away from the string? Do you then use a square against the frame out to the string or do you just eye ball it?

Yup. Just use a small square. A ruler works good too.

Would like to comment on this but do not want to pass on
invalid info.

I do have my own thoughts on tuning from my own experiance but
that dont' make it right for everyone else out there.

So for now I'll read your replys and way it all out.
Hope you all do the same.

I personally put more concern on ATA to be close to factory specs.
Peak weight to be most comfortable for my back and arms to draw
in that order.

Draw lenght and achor point to fit me not the bow or other archres suggestions.

Above all I have to hit where I aim or very close when I touch the relase.
Every thing else is secondary.

Make or break for me I have to have that confidence that I hit where I
aim.
