It really depends on where I'm fishing and what species I'm fishing for.

For walleye, Clousers, black/white or yellow/white.

For pike, Double bunnies in yellow/white, black/white or any damn color and white for that matter. In 5" to 10" patterns.

For rainbows, chironomids in black with red rib or green with red butt. Also a green sparkle leech, or a black/red leech. A Carey Special is also another favorite of mine in red, brown or green. A B52 is another good fly.

So many flies. So little time.

Depends on the water and the time of year, but a couple of my favourites are elk hair caddis and wooly buggers. They might be plain, common, and boring, but work well for me.

my favorite fly fishing setup for lakes is a brown/orange wooly worm on sinking tip line, unless of course there is a hatch going on

personal favorite is a tom thumb, in any variety. also like wooly buggers tied in bright colors..yellow and black, yellow and red, bright chartreuse color. black never fails with a wooly either. doc spratleys and bunny zonkers in white and red are up there too.
