Well I read lots of good fishing stories, so I thought I'd post one I recently experienced. Last weekend my boss/friend decided he was going to buy this boat, a rather old n beat up lookin thing but for us was a huge step up for from shore fishing.

The guy in Calgary who sold em the boat and it took way longer then we figured so by the time we made it to mcgregor lake near Vulcan it was already 12 at night. Then the next next day without really much of a clue we attempted to launch the boat and was kind of embarassed cause I could see frustrated people waiting to launch thiers and after one person kindly helped us morons we got it out only to find the engine sucked and only went in a very slow reverse lol!

My moron friend also forgot to put the plug in one of the holes which I guess stops water from getting in and well we had to bail some water fast n get the boat back out which took even longer and we looked even dumber trying to do but again someone took pitty and helped us. I honestly figured if my friend was buying a boat he'd have a clue how to use it lol.

It gets better, the next day I wake up and hear shouting and was told by someone my friend and his girlfriend are just drifting and cant get back cause he forgot to load the oars on board and the super crappy trolling motor conked out so I watched for 2+ hours as they used a bailing bucket to get to shore and again wasnt til some nice person on an alluminum boat toss a oar over did he get to shore. By this time 2 days had gone and we hadnt even casted a line in cause of all the agrevation this boat was causing lol.

Then my others friends girlfriends dad who showed up at mcgregor happened to be an engineer and looked at the engine and figured out the problem ( It wouldnt engage the propers gears or something only reverse), well he fixed it and got the engine to engage forward so my friend decided hell lets go to little Bow.

The PLACE WAS PACKED! There was a fishing derby going on and over 100 boats in the water, but ah well I wanted to fish so bad I didnt care. Well we actually get the boat in quick and go to turn the engine on and bam it goes for a second then dies, so we say #$@$ it let paddle out n fish(we actually remembered the oars).

Fishing was actually awsome, I never caught a walleye before and caught 10 of them ranging from 12-16 inches and I seemed to have the best luck but I was the only one using a pickeral rig and minnows. They mostly were jiggin, my friend landed a huge one but it got off before we netted it and I think they got 5 small ones between the 4 of them.

Finally as we are about to enjoy our last few hours of fishing we see a HUGE storm moving in, my one friend actually thought it wasnt going to hit us so we got drenched getting the boat out and again looked like morons lol. As soon as we got the boat loaded and were driving out the rain went off like a tap. We just deceided to keep on driving home and yea my friend took the engine back and guy says he will get it fixed or give a refund cause we can make the boat look good with some TLC.

Anyway here is a few pics I took:

Well, at least it sounds like you can laugh about it!

The best stories are the ones where people get stranded, humiliated, and injured. As least none of you got injured (with the exception of your pride) :)

Great post. Thanks for sharing a couple of entertaining stories. If you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at. The best thing about your post is you won't have to listen to idiots arguing about the size of your fish.
