Was wondering if anyone was willing to disclose a little info. about the the bow. Was wondering how it has been fishing? How is the water level and clarity? Was wondering if it is time to fish dries yet? Any info. would be great. Thanks.

Fishingnut:

Well first I'll answer your questions.
1) The Bow has been fishing great overall, with hotter weather and higher water temps, guys have been going more in the mornings and evenings.
2) Level and clarity are pretty good; definitely fishable.
3) Some guys have been using dries since March, depending on the hatches. But as far as post run-off or post-recent-storm, I think pmd's, stoneflies, and caddis (not necessarily in that order) are the ticket. A classic assortment of streamers and nymphs work too (I'm sure you know that).

Try phoning some of the local flyshops for latest conditions and what flies to use:

Hansons Fishing Outfitters: 403-269-9371

Bow River Troutfitters: 403-283-6174

West Winds FlyShop: 403-278-6331

Country Pleasures: 403-271-1016

Fish Tales Fly Shop: 403-640-1273

SouthBow Fly and Tackle: 403-873-0744

No order of preference there. The ones I've been too personally, have all given me great customer service.

Floated from Glenmore to near McKinnon on Saturday with an annual group of people for a two day float. Day one, myself and my friend caught 29. Other boat caught a few more than us that day.
We were all spin casting, so I cant comment for the fly guys, but the river is fishing hot right now.

Day two, we floated to McKinnon and caught 31 fish to the boat. Again the other raft caught probably a few more than us.
All in all, a solid 60 fish caught in 2 days.

Lots of 2-3lb whites around the Calgary area, but surprisingly, no "real" big trout caught at all.

we float from glenmore to fishcreek and catch everywhere inbetween those two spots, we use those countdown ones in browns rainbows, and green and orange in cd-7 size
