I know this is BC, but people love perch. Sure is nice to get on an aggressive perch bite. We don't have many lakes in AB where they attack large spoons like this. Minnow bite perch can be super aggressive.

Jumbo Perch Ice Fishing is one thing I just can't get enough of. This was a great evening bite with perch of all sizes coming through consistently. They have been attacking minnows in this lake and their behavior really is aggressive. Using a Northland Tackle Buckshot Flutter Spoon was a great way to get their attention, trigger bites and keep some of the smaller fish off the hook. Some of the big fish inhaled the spoon like they probably do with unsuspecting minnows. I hope these little methods help you get onto a good perch bite before the end of the season this year. If not this year you'll be ready for early ice next winter.

I was using a GoPro Hero camera for the underwater footage. With the Snow, low light and falling sun it was still decent footage underwater. Hope you enjoy it. Let me know if I should compile the underwater footage for a longer underwater video with commentary on triggering techniques.

Hope you have some luck finding them. March is always a great time to search for perch. Usually getting more aggressive this time of year.

Yes, for sure. I tried to tell me kids that. They said they'd rather stay at Silverstar and ski with mom than fish with me.

As always your vids are a big inspiration for us fisher people. Willing to share your knowledge with others is the best. Information and tactics is second to none. Some of the best perch fishing I have had was quite a few years ago on Duck Lake just north of Creston at the little Hamlet of Sirdar. We pulled some good fatties out of there. Thanks for posting. Those ones around the 5-6 min are beauties. They taste so good those little monsters

Thanks! Yeah Duck lake is a place I would like to fish some day. It is a little far from me though so don't know if ill make it there, but sure would like to, especially for the bass. BC is really starting to put the hammer down on perch though with restricting fishing for them only on certain lakes to try to reduce the spread by people to create new fisheries. Kind of dissapointing since there are several lakes we can't fish for them now.
