had to work for this pike, I love fishing shallow water! not hard to tell when they have the hook when its right under your feet :sHa_shakeshout: I got to watch my 32 pounder do the same thing just as close, This fish was about 6 pounds, now imagine one more than 5 times as big :bad_boys_20: it sure makes winter worthwhile! btw this is one of the fish Ive seen or caught with a damaged jaw, you can see the white scar

Nice videos. Thanks for sharing.
What are you using for bait? Herrings?

In the last video, it looks like bait was hooked by the belly.

Herrings yes. I hook them in the side most of the time, just under the skin so the hook comes out easy and you hook the pike near the outside of the mouth . saves on pike and fingers both

Thanks for sharing for sure. Some dream about a catch like that. Just wondering if you pinch the barbs off your hooks? I only ask cause we cannot keep certain fish in certain lakes in Alberta....Forced to catch and release. No barb, easy off, less stress. Just wondering :thinking-006:

I believe barbless causes fish more stress than barbed, 100% strain the whole time its hooked, with that tiny barb you can ease up when necessary without losing the fish. Just my opinion and had the same discussion with a professional who agreed with me. much harder to get out of a fisherman too but thems the chances you take. I think people should barb or debarb as they see fit, whatever makes them feel good. :)
