Im talkin 12 valve cummins and other diesels from the same era. Stock the 12 valve wont win ya any races but you know for sure she will fire up every morning. We got two 12valves on the ranch and they are the most reliable vehicles on the road.

98 Mountain Aire mh has a 12 valve burner in it and one the best @ 215hp, great mileage since I bought it in 2000, still starts after sitting for months after a couple turns on the crank.

I run a 91 and a half 3/4 ton 4x4 5 speed. Not my daily driver but it fires up everytime. Did the pump and injectors a couple of years ago.

I have a 93 2500 4x4 with 460,00klm, use it for hunting mostly ,
I change oil every 10 to 12,000 Km, oil stays clean for 7500 km the starts to darken up
I change oil when it goes down about a litre.
Unlike my 2012 diesel that, oil is black right away after oil change !

Sold my 91 with 470k on it, I see the kid that bought it (08) still running around with it for his main landscaping haul truck.

Might take a while yet to kill it, cause he says he's gonna run it into the ground!

Ran my 94 12 valve to 400 km,never touched motor or burned a liter of oil. My 2001 24 valve only has 385km just nicely broken in may need to keep it for another 20 years.

Those old 12 valves are arguably one of the most reliable internal combustion engines ever made.

They can be built to whatever your needs are, 1000 HP & 1000 foot pounds of torque aren't out of the question if you have a fat wallet.

03 7.3 just over half a million, runs like a top. Steers like a top too, little wobbly at times.

Along with the two first gens i also have a second gen 24 valve. A bit more finicky and not as bulletproof as mechanical injection but still a very good truck
