Random camping on crown land in southern alberta

Hey all, my son just bought a tent trailer to go camping with his family. :sHa_shakeshout: I think his plans are to random camp along the forestry trunk road. Is this still allowed or only in the designated campgrounds? I remember something about the previous minister trying to shut down most eastern slopes recreation. Did it she manage to do this and has Jason Nixon reversed it recently?:confused: I tried the internet and it’s confusing. Stuff about random camping allowed but it sounded like tenting only? Historical stuff about random camping but nothing really recent or directly relating to RVs and not much current information.

Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks

And please note that I’m not endorsing random camping nor do I random camp. Just a question and hopefully not the spark of any heated discussions please:)

It is now only allowed in designated areas and requires a permit. I think it would be odd to ban random camping in these areas as there are no facilities to maintain, but there is a phone number to call. Let us know what they say!

You can still random camp in the Livingstone Public Land Use Zone. Limited to designated random camping areas. Same as Willow Creek.

Fun little spot just north of the old Livingstone campsite east side of the road. C/R lots of little trout in the river, nice places to ride the backcountry!
