I want to tie up a dozen or so but am low on hooks. The last hooks I used were Mustad, but they were made in Europe. Am thinking the quality is down now on Mustad. What are people using for hooks.

Gamakatzu octopus.

What this guy said but honestly walleye don’t have much power so I am surprised you’re even issues with mustads

I also use Gamakatsu Octopus and I tie mine with Seaguar florocarbon leader material. This resists pike teeth somewhat better than mono or floro line but I regularly check for nicks and retie when I find them. I still lose a few to big pike every now and then.

Gamakatzu octopus.

x2. They also come in colors, so I use the red ones.

I use red, orange and pink Gamakatsu octopus hooks. They're expensive, but the best I've used. I find the finish on the red ones wear off fairly easily.

Yes, it is odd. Last season I was getting straightened/broken hooks on probably 1 out of 4 of the Mustads. The quality has gone WAAAYY down.

The reason the Red finish wears off quicker is they catch so many more fish.:)

I use(prefer) Gamakatsu hooks.

I also use some colored hooks but dont believe I have seen them make much of a difference on spinner rigs. Blade and body color are the attractors. Does seem to make a difference sometimes on lindy rigs though.

Speed, action, shape are more important, at least to me.
