Found a dead Prussian Carp this morning on the bank of the large Carburn Park pond in SE Calgary. Have lived in the neighborhood for 27 years and used to fish the pond when it was stocked with trout, since they stopped stocking it years ago have seen a number of Pike pulled out of there and used to play around with perch in the smaller pond, but have never seen or heard of carp there before. Does F&W want to know about this or is it old news these days when it comes to this particular invasive species?

Even though you are not the one that caught it, it is worth reporting:

And optionally you can help out this study:

Thanks for the link SNAPfisher, made the report. I looked on-line to try to report it but did not find that link.

jeprli - it was about 10 inches nose to tail, so maybe 1 to 2 lbs.

Awesome! Yeah, I had to contact AEP last year when I was catching them at the Red Deer River. I got the links then. There is also a good sticky at the top of this forum.

People just can't stop moving these fish all over the place.
From a fish farm along an irrigation ditch Northeast of Chestermere to all over Southern AB. What an ecological mess

Yes, I don't get the mentality. Why would you move a fish from one body of water to another, just plain stupid. But I think the ponds in Carburn may have been populated when the big flood happened a few years ago. The Bow basically overflowed the entire park and the ponds were part of the river for quite a while.
