Was out at Badger this weekend and caught a pike with a pretty significant injury. I have seen a lot of bite marks on pike before, but never anything like this. Anyone else encountered this before:

My vote is prop too. If it was a bite it would be both sides to some extent in my experience

This has been discussed before - unlikely a prop cut, wound from a bird of prey, wound from a leader ………… the most likely culprit seems to be Pseudomonas hydrophila disease.

Eagles can give them some pretty bad scars, also, I think that on low water years going up their spawning creeks ends up scraping off scales going through shallow spots and beaver dams. These scrapes then get infected and can look pretty damn ugly, I think messing around in jumble ice during early spring can do the same thing sometimes. Both last year and this year I'm seeing a lot of nasty pike, not sure why, most of the injury's on close inspection seem to be of the scraped off scale variety
