Might take a while to beat this fish. 170 lb. sturgeon from the Oldman river.

Before long its gonna be 84 inches and 200 lbs. Nice fish, but way off the mark. Look at the rainy river fish with those measurements and compare weights.

He has caught one 72.5" why would that be a challenge?

Not even close. Maybe 90lbs. I had Waynes 6 footer in my boat. It was around 90lbs. That one isn't as big. Notice that kids hand around the tail. Almost around it. Waynes 6 footer there was no way you could get 1 hand around it. It was 2 hands to hold on to that big fish. Don't get me wrong it is a nice fish.

i was thinking more of the 170lb part but reading the other post now where the weight of the fish seems to not be so accurate. i thought waynechristie's biggest catch was in the 90lb range from a few years ago i thing when he had that jet boat.

Hmmmm. After looking at both fish pictures, it looks to me (and I'm sure most) that the sturgeon out of the Oldman is much heavier than Wayne's. Wayne for one looks to be quite thin (no disrespect) so that makes his catch look even bigger. I think if it was YOU who caught this sturgeon, you would have a different attitude and not just jealousy. How can anyone tell from a photo (a 2D visual) just how much girth the fish has or doesn't have? I believe we as outdoorsman should show the fisherman who caught this amazing fish some respect and not try to discredit how much it weighed or question his measurements. Yeah, maybe it's not as heavy as stated, but really who cares. It's a catch of a lifetime.

what a pile of **** i watched them land that fish, role it around in the mud, drop it 2 times then start taking pictures. After like 5-6 minutes out of the water one guy in our group started yelling at him to get it back in the water. Sturgeon fishing is a two man effort, we run with three guys mostly if we can, 50 pound braid to 30 pound mono on a slider rig, we land our fish quick and they are on their way after a brief porno shoot in the water. to call the media and advertise this is a total Googan move.

Doesn't matter the old record stands. It will not be broken unless we are able to retain a fish. In my opinion that fish is no where near 170 lbs.

Heard that from other sources too. Apparently it didnt look nearly as thick as those photos. Too bad most people do not know how to handle these fish. Quite a few times i have had to yell at people to get them back in the water

Sad that they didn’t treat the fish with respect

I've done a ton of sturgeon fishing on the Fraser River. Caught and released a many fish bigger than that, seen loads moe that dwarf it. That's nowhere close to being a 170lb fish. As others have said, maybe 90lbs. The way that homer is handling the fish is atrocious too. Shame on him.

Hey no better way to release a fish than after a brief porno shoot in the water...
