Been out on the North end a few times catching a few. Has anyone else noticed that the walleye have huge heads compared to their bodies and we had a few come in and they also look really pale for walleye.

The walleye are a bit stunted, the population has grown extremely fast over the last decade with little increase in forage.

That being said, it is only about a month after the spawn, the fish will start to bulk up a bit through the end of the summer.

It’s their post spawn body, some take longer to recoup than others. Give it a few weeks. The bite will slow down as they get back to their normal size but they will be bigger. It’s like that on all the lakes right now.

Was there last weekend. The fish in Sylvan look quite stunted as compared to Gull. Noticeable difference. Not sure if this is a normal or not.

While there are certainly some bigger 'Eyes in Sylvan, it really is famous for "eater" sized walleye. So many 15-18"-ers in there. Would give anything for more 25"+...

This is why they opened the lake to retention. Too many walleye so they aren’t growing. Thin them out a bit and hopefully we will see some bigger ones in the next 5 years.

That lakes been overpopulated with stunted walleye for 20 years. In the thousands I’ve caught since the turn of the century I can’t remember more then one that was over 18” long.

Yup good job for the government taking a proactive approach to certain lakes that have unbalanced predator-prey fisheries. They don't just fix themselves. Eat em up.
