Going to be in Canmore for a few days during the middle of September. Anybody know of any decent fishing spots nearby? Thanks.

I used to park at the west end of larch street and park at the playground. Then take the trails to the river. On the faster riffles I would bottom bounce rubbertail jigs and always catch a few browns.

Another good spot was at Exshaw. You can drive right up to the river in town. It is where the Bow river narrows down. In the first section of the narrows was good for some big browns.

Quarry lake has arctic grayling. Would be fun to catch one.

If you are not having luck in river Groto mountain pond is stocked every month in summer, easy access from Canmore. You can count on there being fish in there most of the time getting them to bite can be a different story.

I see that Chester Lake is mentioned, and is well worth the hike in.

Headwall Lakes begin from the same trailhead as Chester in K-country, and offer better views and much better quality fishing for cutties.

Have fun.
