Hey guys and gals,

I’m debating making a trip down to Med Hat to possibly try an attempt at Sturgeon. I have a 19ft deep hull boat and I’m wondering if this is a bad idea...?

Not sure what the river is like down/up stream from Med Hat.

Anyone spend time on the river with a prop boat? Is one direction better than the other?

Thanks all!

I wouldn’t recommend it. Unfortunately you won’t get far without a jet boat. Large stretches of the river are wide but only a couple feet deep.

Don't do this. You will wreck your body very fast

Terrible idea, the most you could run is about a half mile before you would run into shallow areas. Jet boats only.

If you launch at Strathcona Park, you will get about a half mile, echo Dale Park about the same. Strathcona is right in the city, it's pounded hard and fishing is generally poor especially for sturgeon. Echo Dale does not have as much pressure, but neither area is known for sturgeon.
