The ipilot came with my Lund when I bought it in 2015. I absolutley love it. It works great for all applications. I use the anchor feature alot. It will try and keep you over a spot when you are fishing. My Lund is a 1775 so if the water gets rough it won't keep you anchored over a honey hole but as long as the water is not to rought it works great. Mine has 2 batteries and I have never ran out of power. The remote that comes with it is very easy to use and is waterproof and floats if you should happen to drop it in.

Nice to see that its waterproof that was a concern.

I have a Helix 7G2n and a 999 hdsi so something should work with this ipilot link.

The auto launch and stow on the ulterra is worth it. It integrates well with my Helix 7 SI G2N. I use the spot lock all the time

The follow contour and spot lock is features i like.

Can the Two more expensive ones be manual or are they 100 % automatic ?

Ulterra and Ultrex that is.

There is no tiller handle on the Ulterra. It is steered and speed controlled from the foot pedal or remote or i-Pilot link if that is what you mean. You need lakemaster maps for contour following and I’m not sure they support alberta lakes. Contour does not work with Navionics+ contour maps.

Not meant to be manual but there is a way to move it if it locks in place

So between
Ultrex
Ulterra and
Terrova

What is the main differences other than price?
As mentioned the ipilot link is what i am thinking matters most. I will go 24 volt and 80.

Youtube just tells how great they are but not alot of head on comparison.

Online stores have more verbiage than Shakespeare.

Fishing bud has the Motor Guide with their ipilot Works very well and the anchor mode is as good as mine.

What I really like is it is easier to deploy and retrieve than the Minny. Also once you lock it back in storage it auto turns itself off.

Worth taking a look at. I know I will seriously consider one if mine goes south.

Ultrex = Scissor style base so deployment is manual. Has electronic steering, spot lock, follow the contour, which is where it’s different from the traditional bass style electric motors.

Ulterra- Electronic stow and deploy. Can get in iPilot or iPilot Link. Link let’s you connect it to your network port on sonar head units to control it from the sonar. IPilot still has spot lock and autopilot but all from the remote.

Terrova - Same as the Ulterra but Manuel stow and deploy.

Hope that helps.

Tough part with Motorguide is that they no longer have a dedicated sonar brand supporting them. Lowrance used to be the brand supporting Motorguide but with them coming out with their own electric trolling motors (Ghost) I can see support falling off. Garmin has their own trolling motors now too (Force). You will still be able to use the universal sonar in a Motorguide, but the full integration isn’t likely to be supported going forward.

thank you for that info! We're looking at upgrading our boat soon, and the next one definitely needs to have an upgraded bow-mount (we currently have Power Drive V2 with auto-pilot) and I was curious about the various models and all they do.

In terms of price, is it Ultrex > Ulterra > Terrova?
