Fishing the North Saskatchewan River

Hey all, need some advise.

I'm in the Edmonton area, been to several spots on the NSR and its moving so fast it just brings my bait to the shore in.seconds. This is my first season fishing in alberta and first time fishing since I was a kid and I cant figure out the best way to fish on the NSR around Edmonton.

Any advice would be great.

Hey Archer, you're going to have to go get some nice heavy pyramid weights. What rod,reel and howmant pound line is it you're using?

Rod: ugly stick
Reel: cardinal
10 pound line

What size weight should I get?

Current is pretty fast, so 4oz to 6oz would do it, given your 10lb line

If you dont want to bait fish,ive had a little success with the fast moving water, chucking jig heads with a mr twister in and leave bail open letting it bounce along with the current. Bit difficult to know if you got anything on till you start reeling it in but thats kinda the fun of it. Be prepared to lose a few though. But at about a buck apiece no big loss to wallet.
