Downstream from Calgary to Carseland speaks for itself. What does everyone know or has heard from the weir to Siksika ? TIA

Fished the Weir to the edge of the reserve to Willow Island, good hatches at certain times of the year. Can be good like above the Weir but also can be spotty. You do need to be careful to respect the boundary of the Siksika Reserve.

That's a beautiful fish but I'm cringing at the sight of you finger banging that poor trout's gills. You should never do that with a fish that is to be released (as you must with all trout caught in the Bow River).

"No fingers in the gills. This should be a given, but I’ll mention it. The gills are delicate and easily damaged. There’s no need to involve yourself with a trout’s gills."

Nice trout. Don’t mean to criticize, but that is a dead fish swimming. You obviously use quality equipment, you should know how to handle a fish that has to be released. Just saying.

When I looked up the fishing Reg’s, I believe I was allowed 1 trout.

Do you realize that you are linking to the 2016 fishing the Bow River regulations? The date is right in the title. The regulations have changed radically since that time. The current regulations are "0" catch and release on all Trout and Whitefish (page 34) with no bait (at one time you could use maggots). Here is a clink to the current regs (https://albertaregulations.ca/) that you can download and study.

You should learn to read. 2016 or 2020, that fish was illegal.
2016 regs allowed one trout UNDER 35 cm

Take it easy. OP was asking about lower bow that does have a 2 trout limit.
Edit: The map posted with limit of 1 from 2016 is of what if now considered the upper bow. So if fish was from this part you are indeed a poacher.

Thanks for the heads up. We never considered anything but C&R, but will now read the regs & maybe keep one each from below the weir, after we read the regs. Thanks again.

I don't think Siksika boundary includes the river ?

Canmore to the Bassano Dam cannot keep. Catch & release only. Thanks guys.

I wouldn't want to eat any fish from the Bow anyways. Maybe once a year.

The particulate from the glacial melt that feeds Bow lake and Bow river is filled with a few dozen contaminants and pollutions including PCBs and DDT. The Bow lake has been said to be the most contaminated lake in the rocky mountains. And fish sampling in the past has shown contaminated fish.

Lmao, no one is buying this "accidental link to 2016 map" story. Why can't people just admit the messed up? If you thought the limit was 1, then you were fishing in an area that is now ZERO. There is nowhere on the Bow that has a limit of one. It's C&R only from Bow Lake to Bassano. Below the dam the limit is 2 and it was two back in 2016 also. The pic is clearly taken above Bassano - look at the water color and the flood-mitigation rocks in the background.

Should send this to F&W so they could track you down and fine your ass and suspend your fishing license for a couple of years, Poacher.
