did pigeon after work friday and half a day sat.
started fishing around 8pm-ish on the north end.
we were trying for whities in the waders w. flyrods.
instantly saw a few rise!!!! took a little experimenting with hooks...
10 mins later i landed a fattie 18"-er!!!!!!
damn those whities fight in open water!!!!
though we were in for a kick-***** night but had zero hits for the next 45 mins. my buddy then landed a beauty 17"-er.
we tried for another half hour with everything we could think of. zippo.
we then decided to give walleyes on the fly a go.
INSANE!!!!!
we were getting 2-3 hits per CAST!!!!
in the next 2-hrs-ish, between us two, we must have landed 50-60 'eyes!!!
many over 50cm, all very fat and aggressive!!
many times they were biting as soon as the fly hit the surface!!
also many times we had bites within 5ft of us!!
a ton of fun!!! fished til it was too dark to see.
we then proceeded to drink way too much at the fire.
got up at 8am and right away tried for whities again.
missed a few light nudges and that was it. >:( ??? :-/
a few hours of that and we switched to 'eyes again.
steadily caught a bunch. nothing like the sundown madness. between us 2, we landed around another 30 'eyes and 5 pike. biggest pike was 59cm.
lots of fun with the flyrods.
only a wee bit of success with the whities tho...
can't wait til next time!!!
cheers, gw

hey cam.
the 'eyes were hitting any and all leech or minnow patterns.
during the day, we went with beadhead buggers and muddler minnows
in the evening, i just didn't matter. they were hitting at the surface!!!
re-DONK-ulous!!
however, we did great with streamers, wooly buggers, muddler minnows, and stimulators.
you really SHOULD try it. too fun!!!!

hey NDN.

once we launched, the wind was up and there were good waves, the water was pretty murky. so i didnt even try until later in the day when the walleye slowed down, and even at that i only tried for about 10-12 minutes. No worries, there are other days left in summer.
