Hello All, Looking for a recommended Dentist, Calgary and South, that does porcelain Dental bridge repair. I chipped my bridge and my Dentist wants $7800.00 to replace an eye tooth to eye tooth bridge. (he won't repair). Does anyone have stories regarding a procedure like this? Thank you

I can't recommend anyone here, but this is why it was worthwhile for me to go to Bolivia and get all my dental work done in January. We have obscenely high dental rates here. The work I needed done was going to be in the $10-12k range. Getting the work done there cost me $1000 US including full imagining, pain meds and antibiotics. And it is first rate work, before anyone says anything about 'substandard'. The dentist trained in USA and Canada and has been doing my wife's family work for many years. I spent 13 hours in the dentists chair over two weeks, had 3 different specialists work on me (though it was primarily one dentist). The bill was $965 US.

So. If you have lots of airmiles and like to travel, you can have a great vacation, and spend a fraction of the amount you would in Canada, and get the same work done. My wife and daughter went 9 years ago and got all their work done (veneers, wisdom teeth, a bunch of other stuff), that was going to be $15k here. They spent a month in Bolivia, flew domestically between La Paz and Santa Cruz, got all their work done, and when it was all said and done, flights hotels and all, it saved me $6k, and they had an epic vacation.

It does help if you know your way around, or have family living there, admittedly.

I know some people who travel to BC (Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Golden) to get work done, because they can save 20% or better over Alberta rates. That may be an option for you too if you don't mind a little drive.

Chipped porcelain bridges cannot be repaired, all these light cured composites a dentist could apply to fix, will only last for a short time. The lab fee on a 6 unit bridge will run anywhere from 1200 to 2300 depending on material. All your dentist has to do, is to remove the old one, clean up and take an impression. charging 7800 seems excessive to me. It pays to shop around...they're short on work these times, might get a great deal.

Thank you, my exact way of thinking, all the leg work (haha) has been done, were not starting from scratch here.

Bonding to porcelain is very difficult, can last for awhile but not a permanent fix. You can veneer pocelain and cement it on, I’ve done it a couple of times, works okay. Send me a PM, i am in Claresholm. We can do much better than 7800.
