Thank you guys. God is good.

I finally got some sleep. About 3:00am the hospital called. Patty can come home. But at that point I was too tired to drive so I'll be going to get her in a couple of hours. I've been sleeping since then.

The dog and I are supporting each other. It's funny how dogs know things.
Poor thing was pacing till around 2:30, then she lay down and went to sleep.
I knew then our prayers were answered.

I probably won't post again until I know exactly what happened.
I'm not sure how long that will take. There will be tests to run I'm sure.

I will keep you informed.

With all my heart I thank each and every one of you.

Okay, I have more information. Now they think she pinched a nerve, they say they think she slept on that arm in her chair.

I hope they are right. One thing I don't understand, she has not regained any function in that hand. Whenever I sleep on an arm the paralysis goes away after several minutes when I wake up, and it tingles like crazy until it's better.

Patty didn't even know anything was wrong until she tried to pick up a cup and couldn't. And she could feel with the hand as she always could.

So I'm not sure what to think at this point. But at least she is home and in good spirits.

Last night was terrible. I have never been so scared in my life.
When they said she was having stroke I felt sick and dizzy.
I couldn't think, I couldn't relax, I felt like I would pass out.

I'm okay now, as okay as I can be. But I've been loosing ground for months now. Just walking to the truck plays me out. I guess that's part of what scared me so much. If she fell there is no way I could help her up.

Damn I hate getting old, I want to do things but I just can't. I can't even stand at the counter long enough to make a pie.

I haven't had even one day where I felt okay in months. Worst part is the doctors say everything is working as it should. They say my heart is 100% and I passed the last breathing test no problem yet I have no stamina whatsoever.

Now with Patty partially disabled I'm not sure I can help her like I need to.

Only time will tell.

I let you guys know if anything changes.

Keg , I don't pray , but sending good thoughts for both of you !

Wife had some leg problems. She got played out on very short walks.
Turned out she needed a stint (stent ?) put in one leg.
Surgeon messed up & she had to get one in the other leg as well.
All good now & she can walk long distance now.
Just a thought, as it sounds like a circulation problem.

I actually get what you are going through Keg... Some 10 years ago or so my wife got an extreme headache and all of a sudden half her face went numb and started being a little droopy and then her arm and side. Drove her to the hospital like a mad man and they admitted her instantly and they also thought she was having a stroke. That was some of the worst hours of my life. In the end it turned out it was some form of a crazy migraine that impaired her brains ability to process her nerve functions and all was well eventually but that doesn't remove the fear you already went through. I messed with me for a bit. Just be thankful and try and keep moving through it to the good.

As for you and your stuff, I would be looking for a second opinion for sure! Don't take the word of one doctor or set of tests. If your body says something isn't right, listen to it. Sometimes it just takes the right doctor in the right "aha!" moment to put his finger on the issue and get things sorted.

Glad Patty is O.K. and is home.
Like Bob has said if you think things are not right ask your doctor to send you to see a specialist in the field
It seems to me you have a small window of opportunity to get the hand moving again. But then I am not a doctor.

I had the exact same thing about 10 years ago. We had mountain biked west of Spray Lakes and were hiking up to the Karst Spring. Just before we got there I got an intense headache, and then found myself really confused. I was trying to speak and weird babble just came out. Couldn't feel anything on my right side.

I sat down for a while, and hydrated a bunch. I was able to walk back to where we stashed our bikes and most of the ride back to the lot was downhill so I could coast most of the way.

Had a cat scan and they called it a 'brain blip' migraine. Pretty scary at the time, mostly for my wife, because I couldn't really comprehend what was happening.

Keg - hope all goes well!

Thanks for posting that, really good to know & learn something.

This is the more technical terms of what I experienced. I don't get migraines very often, and haven't dealt with it since.

https://www.webmd.com/migraines-headaches/hemiplegic-migraine-headaches-symptoms-causes-treatments#:~:text=Hemiplegic%20migraine%20is%20a% 20rare,body%2C%20which%20doctors%20call%20hemipleg ia.

Not saying this is what Keg's spouse has experienced, but hopefully she heals up quick!

Keg, how horrible for this to happen on top of everything else this bitch year has thrown everyone. Nothing, absolutely nothing, is more fightening than seeing your dearest in major distress. So sorry you have had this heaped on you. Hopefully they sort it out soon.

As for yourself, remember the squeeky wheel get the grease. SQUEEK! Long and loud.... unfortunately you have to push for your own well being, but someone in good health doesn't feel so crappy. Please get a second or even third opinion. Patty needs you around as much as you need her.

This exact same thing happened to my wife. We just got back to the hotel in Whitecourt after a day of sledding with our friends. I was coordinating plans for supper when my wife's speech just went garbled. Like she was speaking in tongues. Scared the crap out of all of us. She ended up in a hospital in Edmonton that night. Longest night of my life. The doc figured it was a sudden onset migraine.
