Thinking of heading up tomorrow to Sylvan, has anyone been on today and can confirm/deny vehicle access at Norglenwold is still OK?

Can I get through the ice with a hand auger or is it still thick? Either on Norglenwold or Sylvan Lake rink parking lot. Thanks.

Made it up, and out on the ice. Access wasn’t as bad as this pic-must have been standing water that firmed back up overnight.

As we got there-was 2 other trucks both bigger than mine just heading out. Watched them go out and followed their line.
No issues.
There was at least 8-12 vehicles out throughout the day, we left after dark.

Slower day today, I got 5 burb/2whitey/1pike, my friend got 1 burb/2 whiteys. Fishing mostly 22-30 feet.
Pike came outta 13.5 feet.

Fished from 1pm-8:15

Gorgeous weather and temp save for an hour or two of wind.

Ice was starting to get soft/crystallized on top couple inches, but still a non-concerning amount of good ice below the top 2-3 inches where I was.

Easy drive back home except for the moose trotting along side the 766 south that came outta nowhere.

I was out today...took shack off...the launch has a puddle...but the ice ain't too bad...others were driving out....

But it was either this weekend or the next I take it off the ice...glad I did it this weekend...next weekend I think the ice will be quite soft...

If it werenup to me...I would still drive on tomorrow...but im done at sylvan for the year!!

Thanks for the updates all!!

Happy

That’s nothing, you should see the south end of the ice road on Lac la biche lake. 75 yards of flooded water to the ice.

March 26th, taken at noon, Norglenwold lake access, these guys are brave, my insurance won't cover me if I go down. The other day water was running into the holes I cut before I broke through it was coming from within the ice not the surface run off. If you venture out, wish you all the best.

Thanks for the pics Zip-was thinking of heading up tomorrow, but will now plan on walking out.
I’d assume that will still be doable, you think?

Noticed this in the 2021 Regs:

l Ice fishing shelters (for example huts, tents, flip overs) left on the
ice for more than 24 hours must be identified with WiN number
OR name and telephone number (2.5” or taller letters) and must be
removed before March 15 in PP1 and March 31 everywhere else.

Sounds like it might be a good thing.

March 30th .... Norglenwold went out to check the lake access road, taken at noon, someone needs help, no one around. That's my spud bar on right side, there's only 2" of ice over 10-12" water, the lake access is done, my guess it's no different in most other locations around Sylvan.

Either proceed with caution or if you have a big bad ***** truck, just give'r!

Good luck ......... tomorrow's the season ender.

We saw that this am around 930, person had already left vehicle and nowhere to be seen, we left and came to Half Moon bay-we’re hoping for a pike.
No idea if this is a good spot for them, but we’re in 5.5, 8, 9, and 10 feet soaking herring.

Fingers crossed.
Access is fine, there’s about a half dozen vehicles out here, but we only came out half as far as everyone else.

No bites yet, but my buddy foul hooked a 3” perch while bouncing out deeper for whiteys. No whiteys were discovered.

Keepin at it ‘till dark.

If anyone has any other suggestions on lake locations for a big girl-I’m all ears and happy to move if I’m in a horrible spot.

Good luck to all
