Any storm rubber lure users here, when I used them walleye or pike loved them, but 2 or 3 fish hooked on them they were almost done.

I've used them, liked them a lot! Just a bit spendy because, like you say, they get chewed up pretty fast.

My favorite was when the tail would get bit off on the first cast...

Been there and my wife loves the perch wildeye. They definitely catch fish though

They really need to run a wire harness from the treble to the jig hook. A simple fix that would save the loss of some nice fish

When we did the fly in lakes, the pike would not leave these alone, lots of pike and walleye caught on these storm lures, I have a lot of them still as the fly in company went under.

Luckily I found some this year in my tackle box, used them for ice fishing and they were lights out. Me and my buddy's called it the "Secret Weapon"

I used their big shads religiously before I switched to pretty much strictly fly fishing in open water. The one and only time I fished Lesser Slave Lake I friggin dredged the place with a 5" storm swim shad and did pretty well

when you have a collection of wrecked ones you can frankenstein up new baits by adding and mixing parts. I used to stick a curlytail grub on for a tail just heat the end with a lighter then stick it on the lure. red worked great in the spring especially. looks like a bleeding wounded baitfish I think. I repaired a lot of them

If you haven't caught fish on a storm wildeye are you even a fisherman?

I agree. This one broke when the fish got into the net, luckily. It was a decent fish at least.

That would only happen if the tail didn't immediately get caught between the dorsal fin and the hook on the back.

They are still around, but I think supply is limited (like most things these days).

Nice pike by the way

Been seeing lots of storm paddle tails around myself. But they are one of those lures that availability varies because of their popularity. My wife always makes sure she hordes some lol

For myself in the last couple years I have been learning more to un rigged swimbaits like the Berkeley’s in your photo and rigging my own. Freedom jig heads, weighted swimbait hooks, and Carolina rigged are my go to for smaller swimbaits

Right now I am working on designing a few swimbaits and a rig or two to go with them. Wife demanded I add soft plastics to my lures building to feed the swimbait addiction lol

One day my son clips one on and in one cast it had the tail ripped off without even catching a fish. We decided then we had to find a better way. We found the key to keeping soft plastics longer is an external rig, that way you keep the bait out of the fish's mouth during the fight. With this system, I have put 10-15 fish in the boat with one body.

I am just working out some packaging issues but with luck, I'll get them on amazon by the end of April.

Been using them since they came out in the early 90s
I even have some 6 inch perch that they came out with .
I stopped buying them as they stop working once the tail gets ripped off from the second jack . Gave them all to the grand kids to fish with . they like them because they look so real compared to a spoon .

I must be the odd man out, fished with them quite often over the years, and could never convince myself that they worked any better than a regular jig.

Though I cant remember ever buying them myself I always seem to receive them as gifts, seems like non' fishermen walk into a tackle shop and figure anything that looks that cool must be amazing.:thinking-006:

First thing I do with the Storm ones is take off the treble. Especially tossing them in heavy weeds or in the river, the treble hangs up a lot and if a fish cant get the jig hook in its mouth they arent big enough to catch anyways :fighting0074:

This made me laugh as I have done the exact same thing with a lighter and even called them Frankenstein's as well.

Me too, the second thing I do is tie the treble to about 20" of 50 lb flouro and generally that gets hung under a tipup... (why yes, I am part scottish, why do you ask?) All said and done, with the addition of a herring or anchovy, the treble hook accounts for many times more fish than the actual lure ever does.
