Someone told me recently that you should not leave your minn kota or what ever brand you have plugged in.

I have always kept mine plugged in with no issues but it was suggested if you do live it plugged in it could drain the battery or damage the motor.

Anyone ever hear of this before?

My Power Drive had a very slow drain on my batteries. I installed a kill switch between them and realised I should have done this 17 years ago.

Thanks that is exactly what I was thinking of doing.

Always unplug my trolling motor. Just an old habit. I’ve never found out if the motor drains the battery if left plugged in.

My Mind Kota was wired directly to the battery. I unplugged the power connector on top the one that makes it chirp when connecting. I still had a ghost draw on the battery but with a kill switch alls good now.

install a battery disconnect switch on all batteries and never a problem with dead batteries
