Hi! I'm Killbucket. My particular sickness is airsoft guns. BIG airsoft guns. I used to make airsoft copies of
http://www.air-sharp.com/Air-Sharpdotcom_M2HB_4.jpg
Browning M2's and
http://www.air-sharp.com/t3_gun_drum_mag_0025.jpg
1919's.
Some of you may recognize me as the voice of Air-Sharp.

I've retired from making ANYTHING, and now mostly research Grandpa's old guns online.

Just want to say hello to everybody, and if anybody has questions regarding airsoft in particular, I'd love to be of assistance.
My "Credentials" if you will:

Thanks!! I hope I can encourage a few more intros to show up here!
airsplat.com -tons of toys in all price ranges. No, I'm not affiliated.
More on the Killbucket Dynasty, some may be less than true:
But only for legal reasons.

You might know me. I'm the poor kid, who wore those shiny jeans from Sears, back when Marsha Brady was hot.
http://www.air-sharp.com/killbucketschoolpic.jpg
I had a bright yellow sweater that I wore everywhere. I was hoping for a red one next, but it looked like my big brother,
(pic withheld by witness protection program)
KillDumpster, was going to get holes shot in it first.

Incidentally, the guy to my left became a cop. He busted me in my twenties for speeding in the rain, on a motorcycle. He let me go. Right on.

We didn't have money for a new car. We din't have money for a better junk car. We were so poor, we had to XXXX the dog, to feed the cat.

"Butcher"...the word was "butcher"...who got something else? Please leave. Take the donkey with you. Thanks. Yes, we'll be in touch. Really.

KillDumpster wasn't mechanically inclined. He went to grab a Scout knife from me once while I was whittling (yes, I whittle. While thinking about my neighbor's Mom, mostly), by reaching for the blade without asking first. We lived 40 miles from the hospital. Yeah, he was real methodical about thinking ahead.

My 2 older sisters were known for two things: Being pretty, and having a
http://www.air-sharp.com/r-lee-ermey1.jpg
Crazed Drill Sergeant for a father. My big brother kept him pretty busy, tho, what with tuition, clothing, and bail-bonds.

I fixed all of Dad's cars from the age of 7 on up. S-E-V-E-N. I could recite the firing order of a Chev Small block before I could spell Santa Claus. Tools are awesome, you can see what's inside of stuff, make Dad get real excited. What's a tube tester? I know, because I've repaired them. OK, it was after breaking them. But I got it going again, ...right before we tossed it.

My little brother was KillChoppit. Find a yearbook from LaCenter High School, 1983, you'll find an unusual senior picture, him with a (probably stolen) El Cid sword resting on his shoulder. Leif Erikson re-incarnated. He's really changed since, and mellowed a lot:
http://www.air-sharp.com/KillChoppit.jpg
Here's his (REAL) Facebook Profile shot. I'm considering him for the Air-Sharp Complaint Department, if things get heavy.

Mom was the smart one, and took off to California to "find herself". I was two. We all got to stay with Dad, who immediately started interviewing new
mommies. He wasn't good at it, after a few tries, he found us somebody to hate and resent,....er listen to.
Looked like Samantha, but acted like Endora. Whatever Daddy saw in her,...well, let's just say, I'm HAPPY I can't see it. RIP Dad.
Stepmommy? Only the good get to die young.

Washington state is beautiful in the Summer. You know, July third through fifth? I split town in 1989. Went to California to "find myself". I was 27.

I haven't seen my family in person, since The Simpsons first came on TV.
California is THAT good. Yeah, that's why.

I worked in robotics, biomedicals, lasers, wafer fab, cable equipment assembly, and a place that made electronics for monitoring babies. No, you couldn't keep me around very long. Too much to learn.

I did end up with some long stints, and came to truly hate stints. I've been stintless since 2007!

A: AA battery holder, four cells = 6v.
B: Relay-connects 6v to red/black wire pair when gun is fired.
C: Hopup with 14 candelas' worth of blue LED's.
D: Fire control, not yet wired in this shot.
E: Fiberglass .50's!

This is wired so that if you pull the trigger, the AEG motor, the ammodrive, and the HUTU (Google THAT!) all receive power. I may add a button to pre-wind the ammo, but there's actually a very short feed path in this thing.

An airsoft SCAR. Now *that's* hot.

So, do you generally alter real firearms or do you work up moulds and stuff like the resin/prop guys do? Or both? That project you posted looked like you were turning a real firearms into an airsoft gun.

No, Pure Airsoft:
http://www.airsplat.com/Categories/ERM.htm

Warning: This stuff is more addicting than real-Steel.

I live in Snootrus Heights, CA., and about NONE of my collection is kosher in bangity-bang models. Luckily, FULL-AUTO BB guns are 100% legal here!

I started to count one day, got to 40 guns, and asked myself if having this many BB guns, was more sick than wanting to know the total. I quit counting. That was over a year ago....should that be my sig, or what?

Airsoft is HUGE, and growing. Legions of Little Old Men in the UK are NUTS about our old Browning guns!

Hopefully, it will survive in Canada, as well. I hear the law is a bit stiff on them up there!

Hey Killbucket. Welcome to the site and thanks for sharing your passion with us. Your craftsmanship is amazing! How many BB's can you shoot with single, fully auto blast? They're the plastic BB's, correct?

How much fun would it be to play around with something like that? My God, Mrs Tree would be pure HELL on magpies!

This little project may well apply to your favorite gat of any type:

A while back, I made this grip up for KillSAW One:
http://www.air-sharp.com/epoxied%20grip.jpg

http://www.air-sharp.com/finished%20ergo%20grip.JPG

Made of Oatey 2-part putty, the methodology is pretty easy to grasp minius words. But it's a bit hard.
Let's say you want a nice CUSHY grip... Check this out:

http://www.air-sharp.com/ergogripmod000002.JPG
I suppose you could use the colored material, if you don't mind a funky look...Or intersperse some color into the black, that could be interesting...

http://www.air-sharp.com/ergogripmod000004.JPG
Roll it into a ball, and keep rolling until no lines remain in the surface. This way, it will cure all smooth.

http://www.air-sharp.com/ergogripmod000003.JPG
Position the extra padding where you need it, and squeeze. Pat down any fingerprints, keep patting, and working the edges so they're smooth in line.

http://www.air-sharp.com/ergogripmod000001.JPG
An afternoon or two in a warm dry place, and it's good to go. It's firmly adhered to the fresh paint here, but a bit of cyano may be needed to keep it there.

I just got into the paintball not long ago and if I bring something like that home, I'M A DEAD MAN!
Curious, howmany FPS do your guns shoot?

killbucket
08-31-2009, 04:04 PM
I USED to make gun bodies. I no longer make anything outside of a crazy project or two, like the MacGlashan I'm making out of an airsoft AK today.

350-425 FPS max. Anything more just isn't fun to play with, kinda like a maxed-out dirtbike. Fun, but it wants to fly apart.

I can tell it's the Fall when my 74-yr old Mother in Law comes by, to borrow a sub-machinegun.
http://www.air-sharp.com/motherinlawsmg.JPG
If I was a WoodPecker, I'd be shakin' in my WoodBoots.

She calls me on the phone "Darn pecker's r at the house again! I shot off one of the gutters with the .410. Rain's are comin' you got somethin to scare em off with, without making holes in the roof?"

"C'mon down I'll fix you up"
I gave her the two-year old Aftermath Broxa, a GIANT NIMH cell pack, a charger, and a few thousand rounds of easy-to-see-flying white .28gr ammo.

Must be working for her, because I'd HEAR about it if it wasn't...

Back in the saddle again....
Lots of work done, wifey healing from surgery (2 of them, bless her heart) and doing well. FINALLY got PayPal set up on my site, and Granma LOVES the Aftermath Broxa!
She went out plinking three times the first day, and shot 20-30 "peckers" (why do I get all jumpy when she says that?). On the second day only two disturbances occurred. I guess they've been tunneling into the roof. Not any more, she says they got the message. she was gleefully telling me about the squirrels she expects to want her (wal)nuts in the spring.
I've created a monster!

:mad3:The thing I like most about airsoft is when I take my little girl for a walk in Fish Creek Park and she keeps picking up little yellow, red, camo pellets. I have never seen so many, every year it gets worse. I am not going to complain because then I become a "whiner". But it does suck!!
I own a AS pistol but I clean up my pellet when I am done with them.:mad2:

killbucket
10-28-2009, 01:19 PM
Unchanged from whatever it is otherwise.

The truck battery increases the shots per minute, but not how fast they come from the muzzle. The spring inside the gun, along with the gun's other characteristics controls this.

killbucket

Clearing out the shop, getting ready for some new projects. I'm planning a bunch of stands for popular guns. My wall is about full...As most airsoft copies ape their "real-steel" counterparts, most of the designs should also work with those also. Many pics to come on this...
