Having a hard time finding red label or green label anchovy trays. We use them in teaser heads for Lakers. If anybody has any they are willing to sell or knows a bait shop who has some, I’m looking to buy. Edmonton area.

Thanks.

This isn’t answering your question because I always brought my anchovies and herring from the west coast after I was done salmon fishing.

That said, you’ll catch more Lakers with these

Then you will with these

I have never seen a day on cold lake where anchovies out fished the northern king spoons. I’ve run both side by side many times and the spoons out fished bait every time.

I got more big lakers off Tomic plugs but the spoons out fished everything.

The other tip I’ll happily share is you will get far more strikes if you move the lure vertically through the water column. Before I worked that out I had days where I would troll half an hour between strikes. After I figured it out I rarely got two lines out without hooking up. If I did I would start adjusting the depths via the downriggers and rarely made it 100m without hooking up.

Now this is an untested opinion but I’ll throw it out there. I used teaser heads off the QCI on salmon for a long time. I then used it in cold lake with mediocre success. I then moved to Australia and tried them here. Nothing would touch it. Now I troll my garfish swimming straight. There’s no reason you couldn’t troll a herring or anchovies swimming like we do a gar. Google it if needed. The yanks call them ballyhoo but a straight swimming bait gets nailed all over the world, no reason it wouldn’t work better then a teaserhead.

Rigged like this

Anyway, good luck finding the anchovies.

Yup I don’t troll bait as in anchovies etc just throw on a Apex trolling
Lure behind a willow leaf down to the depths and we do really well….we just change the colours and the width of the apex trolling
Lure to find out what they prefer that day etc with regards to colour and action…..
