Can barley launch a 16’ tin boat … I have a theory as to why it’s low
What are your thoughts ???

The emphasis of the lake is not fishing, it is an irrigation reservoir. This has been one of the driest summers on record?

Because there's not very much water in it. My theory anyway.

I think you're on to something.

Rock Island has a bit of a small collection area. It then drains to the Rock Island River to Calling Lake.

This year was incredibly dry after the massive rain in June that delivered 3 inches in one day!

After that there has been very little in the way of rain, and the muskegs have delivered all the water that they can.

Rock Island is not very deep to start with, being about 30 FOW. Even Calling has dropped a couple of feet from this June when it was the highest I have ever seen it.

Is it a conspiracy theory? Most people think those kinds of theory stoopid

Even if you want to fish Rock Island Lake, why would you? The FN's have been netting it hard for years as it has jumbo whites. Sorry. It HAD Jumbo whites.

Trouble is, everything else was taken out as well. Big Walleye, big Pike, all gone.

May long weekend I have seen 18 nets in front of the boat launch. Then more by the river. Nothing had a chance.
