I caught a trout today from a stocked pond, while gutting it i noticed whitish blobs in the blood sack along the spine. I am trying to find info on what they are and most importantly is the fish safe to eat? one was the size of a pea, kinda like fat deposit.

After extensive searching I have found out the "blood sac" i was referring to is the kidney, and what i was describing could be PKD or BKD but im still trying to find out if these fish are dangerous to eat. if anyone here knows or could point me to a web site it would be appreciated.

As long as you are not using them for sushi they will be fine for human consumption.

Not likely BKD as hatcheries are checked for this.

Not sure but wonder if fish and feathers would be interested in your find. Considering it was a stocked pond is it normal for that? I'm not a big fan of stocked hatchery fish. Seem to be too mushy. Good fun for the kids if you find the right pond

Nature is interesting- in that most parasites are very host specific. For instance your body chemistry and temp. are not like a fish....and the creatures host has its favorite environment. I personally would not eat raw meats....My two cents..
