I have a canoeing trip coming up in just over a week from Red Deer to Drumheller, assuming there's enough water in the river down there, and am wondering how the fishing is downstream of Red Deer. I hear a lot about the Brown Trout in the Red Deer, but are they mostly up stream? Is it good fishing downstream for anything else?

There is a few good sized Browns taken right in the city but downstream not so much, 1 week from now will be a good time to fish the river, the whites and golds are getting very active now, fish the deeper pools for walleye and pike, overall this is a great time of year to fish the Red Deer, you won't be disappointed, good luck....:)
