Well I went out got on the ice then the wind came in and was pushing in the tent. Luckly I pegged it down good but still made a few adjustments. Then once the wind died down the fish started to come in. I only put a couple fish in this video I hope you guys enjoy it.

That was a nice fish.

Who else got some ice vids? Been a couple of years since I've been out now.

Was just curious, and would like to know the following:

What is the cost associated with developing an ice fish setup like the one you use? I would prefer to get a 2 person tent since I will be taking my wife and grandchildren.

How long does it take to set it up before you can start fishing?

Thank you N40

Depending on the tent you chose it can be anywhere from $500 to $900. Then add in the buddy heater of your choice I like the big buddy personally. Then for the floor all that is is some eva foam mats that interlock and they are about $16 for 6 of them.

Here is a few links to help you out:

https://www.cabelas.ca/product/129451/cabelas-five-sided-thermal-wide-door-hub-ice-shelter

https://thefishinhole.com/index.cfm?action=product&kw=/Eskimo/Fatfish-949i-Insulated-Hub-Tent/&se=27212 This is the shelter I have.

https://thefishinhole.com/index.cfm?action=product&kw=/Eskimo/OUTBREAK-450XD-PLAID-SHELTER/&se=34482

All of these shelters are good for 1 to 4 people imo add gear and tackle and a heater and it can get a bit cramped but fishable.

Now for heaters( I recommend the big buddy heater as I look at it as better to have it then not.)

https://www.princessauto.com/en/9000-btu-buddy-radiant-propane-heater/product/PA0008945065

Add in a hose and 20 lbs propane tank and you are good for a few trips out on the ice.

For setup it that depends on how much snow is on the ice. I like to shovel the area clean were the tent is going to go then drill my holes and set up the tent(make sure you peg it down). Then put all my flooring and gear so about 25 mins total. The hub shelters are easy to set up but can be a pain on windy days. I hope this helps answer some of your questions.

Right around $1,000 to get set up in a shelter your family will be comfortable in down to -30*C. Of course there are other odds and ends like whether you use one pound propane cylinders or a 10lb bottle, what electronics you use (you can get into an ice dedicated ice fishing setup for $350-$400 I believe), and your rods and reels. You can save money with a Cabela's insulated shelter instead of the Eskimo, and wait for a Portable Buddy heater to go on sale instead of the big buddy.

I could put his setup together on the ice in under five minutes (under ten if I'm shoveling snow and staking it down). With help you could have it down to five or so clearing snow and staking it down.

Unfortunately you will need a bigger tent than a 2 man if you bring the wife and grandchildern.:bad_boys_20:

2 man = 1 man
4 man=2 man
6 man = 3 man

You get the drift...LOL
