I know we have some talented peeps on here so I thought a thread dedicated to projects small and large might be a cool idea. Made a knife, put it up. Carved a duck call, put it up. Finished an enclosed trailer to sleep in while out hunting, put it up. Got the idea? Small or large it doesn’t matter, put it up.

I’ll start. Here’s a set of rattling antlers I just put together for a young hunter that means the world to me. I’m no arts and crafts major but I think they turned out ok. It would be cool if he could rattle in a nice Whitetail next year using bone off of one I rattled in this past season.

A knife that got borrowed and lost for about 12 years. Found it and it was rusted and leather stacked handle was rotten. Cleaned up the rust on the blade and made a new handle from a piece of sledgehammer handle

Thanks for your input 1886. Good job bringing that knife back from the dead.

I thought this would be a fun thread over the holiday's but unfortunately it looks like it’s heading where that knife was going…

Here is my dads old rifle. He bought it when he was 16 for 6 dollars. It was muzzle down in a galvanized garbage can with 20 others at the local McLeod’s hardware store. With the $6 he got to pick the best in his eyes, a box of imperial shells and a hunting knife he still uses. It came with a Monte Carlo butt made by Bishop, but the forestock was whitled milspec. He used that rifle until he bought a savage99, which he still uses. The old Enfield kind of when by the way side for 50 years. This year I sneaked the rifle from him (not a big feat as he hadn’t laid eyes on it for 20 years), and did a complete restoration. The butt was kept, but it looked like a balloon, so i shaped and refined it so you could actually grasp it. Hard to believe, but damned if I could find a sporter front end easily, so off to my mill I went. Using the mil spec old forestock as a template I built one from scratch (that took a bit of time!). Soda blasted, hot blued to the original gun metal grey, and 22 lpi checkering done to finish it off. I tell ya, you gotta really enjoy the finished product to checker a stock properly! Finally, build a walnut presentation box with his initials and done.
Best part of the story is dad and I went hunting moose this fall, and he finally took a moose with the old 303. At 82, the old boy still has it.

That’s quite the accomplishment. Great way to finish it off with a nice bull with your dad.

This wins my vote for "post of the year". The moose was icing on top. Slow clap for you sir :character0110:

Haha thanks. The silage tarp was 60x100. So finished about 55x95. Some good winter fun for the kiddos (and dad!)

Decided the old camper was due for retirement so built something new for hunting and fishing trips. Fully insulated with 1 1/2 styro, wrapped with waterproofed canvas.

Thought I would try to make some barn board frames for a few of my photos from the wood we have here.

Does a set of home made custom headers with 3 inch exhaust and built in mufflers for a 1927 T bucket count?

Well dad does his fair share. But we’ve trained the kids to help and not sit around. It’s a family affair :) the snowblower works great followed by a quick shovel.

Here’s the Zamboni we made. It’s works like a dream. We connect to hot water and flood in about 20 mins. The best ice is made in small layers

Yes it does! I made our community rink for a few years, every community rink skater should help make the ice one year to gain appreciation for how much time goes into making that glass.
