For those running a flipover, like the Eskimo Eskape series or Clam Fish Traps, smitty sleds can be a bit of a pain to use. Taking the sled off and then back on the smitty is something that annoyed me like crazy.

This season I built a new smitty sled that allows the angler to raise the sled up quickly and easily for moving spots but is also able to drop quickly to the ground for use with a flipover. Check out the link below:

I'd love to hear your guys' feedback and if you plan on building one of your own!

Looks like a great idea. When fully extended, how high is the tub off the ground? It looks like it could do to be a bit higher off the ground for when the snow starts to get deep. Still, a very good design for early season when we pull our sleds by hand the most. :happy0034::happy0034::happy0034:

As stated by others, great idea. Thanks for sharing your design.

This got me thinking after 14 years my pelican 60 finally wore through but that is because I use it to haul wood, deer and ice fish with it.
I got a few pairs of old cross country skies that I might screw to the bottom of my next sled.
This shouldn’t affect the sleds performance and add longer life to the bottom of the sled.

The bottom of the tub sits just over 4" from the ground. It could be a bit higher but I'm limited by how tall the side of the sled is. Follow the link to the article I wrote for more details. If I built a bracket to hold the legs outside the tub, or cut the lip at the top of the sled you could make the legs longer and have more lift. I've found that 90% of the time 4" is enough to keep the tub off the snow on the lake.

Here's (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8D8l7BMPIhA) another option I came across. I gotta say, I like this guy's channel. He has some good info/tips/tricks.
